Privacy policy

This policy covers this website only — the page you are reading and the early-access list you can join from it. The Focant app does not exist yet. When it ships it will handle notification data, and that will need its own policy; this one does not describe it or make promises on its behalf.

Who is responsible

What we collect, and why

If you join the early-access list, we store the email address you enter, and the date and time you entered it. We use it for one thing: to email you when the beta is ready. That is the whole purpose.

After you join, we ask three optional questions — which phone you use, your biggest notification problem, and roughly how many notifications you get in a day. Answering is entirely up to you, the list works the same either way, and we use the answers only to decide what to build first. We also record which of the two sign-up forms on the page you used, so we know which part of the page is doing the work.

Because the list is the beta list, joining it is itself your request for beta access, and we record it as such.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to see which parts of this page work, and it sets cookies in your browser to do that. Nothing analytics-related runs until you agree. We ask once, in a banner at the bottom of the page. Until you press Allow, no Google script is loaded, no cookie is written, and no request about you reaches Google at all.

If you press "No thanks", that is the end of it — we record your choice in your own browser's local storage so we don't ask again, and nothing else happens. The early-access form works exactly the same either way. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser and we will ask again.

Google Analytics tells us things like which sections people reach and where they stop. We have turned off its advertising features, so your data is not used for ad targeting or personalisation, and we have enabled IP anonymisation. Google processes this data as described in its own privacy policy.

What we do not collect

• No advertising pixels, and no ad-targeting or remarketing.
• No profiles built about you, and nothing bought about you from anyone else.
• No notification data of any kind. Nothing on this site reads anything from your phone.

Who else sees it

Your details are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in [SUPABASE REGION — confirm your project's region]. They store the data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.

This page also loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser fetches the font files from Google and Google receives your IP address in the process. Google describes how it handles those requests in its own privacy policy.

Google receives analytics data about your visit, but only if you agreed to it in the banner — see "Cookies and analytics" above.

Beyond those three, nobody. We do not sell your information, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we do not pass it on except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Until the beta has launched and you have had your invitation, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. If Focant never ships, we will delete the list and tell you we have. [CONFIRM: a fixed outer limit, say 24 months from sign-up, is easier to honour than a milestone.]

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the GDPR gives you the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive it in a portable form, to restrict what we do with it, and to object to our using it.

Our lawful basis for both the mailing list and analytics is your consent — given by entering your email, and by pressing Allow in the cookie banner respectively. You can withdraw it whenever you like — every email we send will carry an unsubscribe link, and you can email us instead if you prefer. Withdrawing does not undo what we did while the consent stood.

Email hello@focant.app and we will action any of the above within 30 days. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your information, we will email everyone on the list before the change takes effect, rather than quietly updating this page.
